Component Algorithm
For Caveats of Digital Design, the project focused on the development of a component that could be replicated and configured in multiple variations. The start of the process began with studying simple geometries, that have the ability to be replicated and interlock with one another. Once the forms are interlocked I began experimenting with methods of variations by rotation around a central axis. This method of rotation led to a chain of components. The chain of components was written into an algorithm, that took each component and rotated it 0,60,120,180,240 or 300 (based on a hexagons inner angle). By writing the algorithm to generate these degree rotations in a random pattern, the chain is able to take complex forms with simple adjustment of rotation from one component to the next.
